Case Study

Visa

Visa is a major satellite customer and BT Satcomms presently manages their satellite network. The service allows Visa to provide card services to their customers in places where terrestrial infrastructure might not achieve excellent availability levels. The associated VSAT hub equipment is based at Goonhilly Satellite Earth Station and is monitored 24 hours a day by a dedicated technical rota team. The Satcomms team provides monthly reports for Visa on information such as availability and issues. There is also an escalation mechanism of 2nd Line technical support based at Goonhilly and in London. The technical support is also set up to undertake network design and movement to new technology platforms e.g. IP.

As part of the Satcomms role we manage a network of suppliers in many varied countries for the Visa service: Belarus, Croatia.Czech Republic, Egypt, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Morocco, Romania, Russia, Slovak Republic, Ukraine, Cyprus, France, Greece, Iceland, Israel, Malta, Portugal & Turkey.

If our agents in the countries above are unable to resolve outstanding issues then there is a team of satellite experts based in the UK which can travel at short notice.
